There are three types of storage offered by Paperspace:
Volumes: Persistent root volumes for VMs
Shared Drives: Network attached storage for mounting across VMs
Gradient Persistent Storage: Persistent Gradient storage which is automatically mounted on Jobs and Notebooks.
Storage volumes provide a block-level storage device for use as the primary system drive on a Paperspace VM. Volumes appear to the operating system as locally attached storage which can be partitioned and formatted according to your needs.
Volumes offer cost-effective storage that is ideal for a broad range of workloads. They are well suited to both applications that rely on random reads and writes and throughput-intensive applications that perform long, continuous reads and writes.
• Regions: Volumes are region-specific.
• Media: Volumes are backed by SSDs.
• Sizes: Volumes can be created in sizes ranging from 50 GB to 2,000 GB.
NOTE: Pricing for storage is based on the size of the disk. The storage fee is charged for the duration that you own the machine.
NOTE: Once you upgrade storage, you can not downgrade!
Shared Drives are designed to provide a data source accessible to one or multiple machines concurrently. Drives are commonly used to share files between machines and behave similarly to a local office file server (referred to as network-attached storage or NAS). Drives are mounted using standard tools within the OS.
Drives provide a file system interface and file system access control such as strong consistency and file locking. All file systems deliver a consistent baseline performance.
Shared drives are available with a Paperspace for Teams account and can be provisioned in the console.
NOTE: Pricing for Shared Drives is based on the size of the drive. The storage fee is charged for the duration that you own the drive.
Gradient Persistent Storage
Free Gradient subscription (G0) accounts get 5GB storage at no cost.
Paid Gradient subscriptions (G1, G2; T1, T2) have access to higher storage capacity.
Note: Overage charges are incurred when users exceed the amount of data included in their subscription plan. Users who exceed that limit will be charged $0.29 for every additional GB used on a pro-rated basis. For example, if you exceed your plan limit by 151GB and store the data on disk for an hour, you would be billed $0.059 in overage charges.
