When did the new plans rollout? What will I notice?
On September 7th, 2021, we rolled out a new slate of Gradient Subscriptions.
If you signed up for Gradient prior to September 7th, 2021, your Subscription plan is now considered a Legacy plan. Besides the "Legacy" name change, nothing else changes for you immediately except that, if you wish to switch plans, you will only be able to select from among the new Subscription plans.
If you signed up starting on September 7th, 2021, you will automatically be on a new Subscription plan.
You can see your current plan, including if it's a Legacy plan, in the Console on the Upgrade page or under Billing. Visit Billing by clicking on your User avatar at the top-right of the Console and then clicking Billing.
What are the different plans? How do I switch?
The new subscription plans have different names as the Legacy ones:
- Legacy for Private Workspaces: Free, G1 & G2
- Legacy for Teams: T0, T1 & T2
- New for Private Workspaces: Free & Pro
- New for Teams: Free, Pro & Growth
Pricing for each plan remains the same, besides Team level T2/Growth plans, which have been reduced from $49/user/month to $39/user/month. If you are considering changing subscriptions from T2 to Growth please note the Persistent Storage limits before you switch. You can view pricing information for all Gradient Subscriptions here. Note that Free Instances are available to all Private Workspace plans.
All Private Workspaces and Teams can switch to a new plan when you visit the Upgrade page. There, you can also see what your current Subscription plan is. Legacy plan users will see a banner notification on the Upgrade page as well.
How does Persistent Storage work? And resizing when switching plans?
Each Subscription plan has a different Persistent Storage size allocation, which is shared by workflows, notebooks, and machines in your account.
Note that for Team plans, Persistent Storage is per team, not per user.
This quota/size is determined by the team subscription so can range from 5GB up to 50GB. Contact sales if you need to increase this limit beyond what is available with the default subscription plans.
Note: Overage charges are incurred when users exceed the amount of data included in their subscription plan. Users who exceed that limit will be charged $0.29 for every additional GB used.
What is machine utilization?
Each Subscription plan, including the Free plan, includes charges for machine utilization, such as the hourly rate for that machine instance while in use. Free Instances do not incur machine utilization charges, but all Paid Instances do – you'll see the price on the instance type when creating your notebook (or workflow).
Do Gradient Subscriptions affect Core?
Nope!
